About Us

About Us

We have been in the wood business for more than 6 generations now.

1938

Amarshidada Yogi

He was the Great grandfather of Jyotindra Yogi who expired around 1938 or so. We had a Timber business in the name of Amarshi Manji probably around the year 1870 or earlier in Mahuva, Gujarat. This business was in very large volume as they owned country crafts which used travel between Malabar and Mahuva port.

1954

Tribhovandas Yogi

He expired around 1954, he was very fond of business and wanted Jyotindra Yogi to take over the business. He flourished the Amarshi Manji business after the expiry of Amarshi Manji

1913 - 1938

Mathurdas Tribhovandas Yogi

He was many things except a shrewd businessman. He was unable to manage business which was in poor state after the death of Tribhovandas. We had a huge debt burden which caused the collapse of the old timber business in Mahuva in 1982.

1934 - 2010

Jyotindra Mathurdas Yogi

Due to his passion for travel, he created Overseas Traders in 1975 and looked for opportunities for exports after the insolvency of the Amarshi Manji business in Mahuva, Gujarat. Through the New York state department of commerce, he was able to establish a link between Overseas Traders and J.H. Monteath Co. and this initiated the export business for Overseas Traders. In 1969 Mr. Frank Blackaitis, Vice President of J.H. Monteath & Co. visited India and the sole reason for his to India was the total ban on export of Brazilian rosewood which was the most popular wood used in guitars. East Indian rosewood being the only best suitable alternative to Brazilian rosewood caused the initiation in our existing business which flourished then onwards. We miss him at Overseas Traders in all our day to day activities till date.

Sanjay Jyotindra Yogi

After the insolvency of our business in Mahuva, Gujarat. Sanjay Yogi had to move to Hubli, Karnataka to look after the new business of Overseas Traders. While, Jyotindra Yogi was looking after most of the overseas contacts and other aspects of our business, Sanjay Yogi was looking after production as well as purchase of rosewood logs in Hubli, Karnataka. He is the existing CEO of Overseas Traders

Ankit Sanjay Yogi

Under the guidance and expertise of his father Sanjay Yogi, he is the current managing director who is leading Overseas Traders to new heights. Overseas Traders now has a new and modern facility in Gamanagatti Industrial Estate, Hubli and we are still continuing to be one amongst the top exporters of East Indian Rosewood from India and probably the best when it comes to quality.
